Bicimáquinas are pedal-powered blenders, washing machines and threshing machines, eliminating the need for fuel and electricity remote regions of Guatemala.
Founding father Cesar Molina started Fifteen years a go the Maya Pedal Association in San Andrés Itzapa Chimaltenango and began recycling scraps of bicycles into bicimáquinas.
Today they are 1300 bicimáquinas in Guatemala. Recently 13 patents have been registered by Maya Pedal.
The most popular bicimaquinas are Bicimolino/desgranadora (mill and desgrainer), Bicilicuadora (bicycle blender), Bicibomba de Lazo, (bicycle water pump), Bicivibradora, (concrete vibrator for roofing tiles), Bicidespulpador de Café (bicycle coffee de-pulper), Bicigenerador (bicycle generator), Bicilavadora (bicycle washing machine) and Biciesmeril (bicycle metal sharpener).
